Economic Green Flexo Printing...

Two factors drive costs and affect profits in flexo printing today. First and foremost economic factors require that the flexo printer do his work efficiently. The second factor is a composite of requirements that constrain what the printer can do and how he can do it. This is where green flexo printing comes in to the picture. The use of an easily attached servo unit to a standard flexo press will help in both regards.

Green flexo printing means that the printer needs to find and use ecologically friendly materials and processes. Recycling will become increasingly important as will the use of biodegradable and non-toxic solvents and inks. As society and government become more concerned about what goes from the printer to the landfill and to the water table increasingly green flexo printing will likely become a legal requirement.

Press economics are a hot subject of the day. In most recent issue of Label and Narrow Web a press economics article makes the point that the use of a servo attachment to a standard flexo press allows the printer to substantially reduce flexo waste while upgrading performance. Reducing flexo waste saves money and is green printing as it reduces what goes into the land fill. Upgrading performance of a standard flexo press allows the printer to take on more profitable work such as printing multi content labels or printed circuits.

To engage in green and profitable flexographic printing an excellent place to start is by adding the Servo 3000 Digital Infeed and Reregister System to a standard flexo press in order to see reduction of 35% or more in substrate loss on each and every print run.
